Spring 2014 was an exciting and productive concert season for CCCS!  We had the pleasure of having three performances entitledI Nek Pjesma Dalje Teče-May the Song Be Forever Sungin Etobicoke, downtown Toronto and in Hamilton. This special series, under the baton of accomplished Artistic Director Edward J. Mavrinac, featured the tambura (the Croatian national instrument) and music from the Slavonia region accompanied by our talented tamburaši (a tambura ensemble).

The audience enthusiastically clapped along with the familiar strains of the well-known Greek song Strosse to Stroma Sou, Vrati mi Srce, from the famous movie Zorba the Greek. The entertaining and masterful bouzouki instrumentalist Ken Kakoullis accompanied the choir in a soaring rendition of
Strosse to Stroma Sou showcasing our choir quartet.

The second CCCS Merit Award was presented by CCCS President Hilde Mesić Fuchs to aspiring and gifted soprano Julijana Hajdinjak, who sang a repertoire of both classical and Croatian selections.

Beethoven’s beloved Ode to Joy was the processional and recessional song at all three concerts. The magnificent sound of the Casavant pipe organ accompanying the choir at the Church of the Redeemer in Toronto provided a most resounding and memorable rendition of this classical piece.
