On March 22nd 2015, the Canadian Croatian Choral Society, along with our tamburaši and Merit Award recipient Julijana Hajdinjak travelled to Windsor Ontario having received of an invitation from Fr. Ljubo Lebo to sing Holy Mass and perform a concert at St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church.
Following Holy Mass, the beautiful Windsor church resounded in music and song from the various regions of Croatia as the choir, under the baton of Artistic Director Edward J. Mavrinac, sang a repertoire of folk, patriotic and sacred songs accompanied by the tamburaši.  The concert highlights featured melodies from the Slavonia region performed by the tamburaši, a piano duet performance, a vocal performance by Julijana Hajdinjak, and the beautiful Dalmatian acapella sound of Windsor’s own Klapa Kartolina under the direction of Višnja Tijardović.  After the concert a lovely reception followed in the church’s Banquet Hall as more song and music continued accompanied by a delicious traditional Croatian meal.
CCCS appreciates the opportunity to perform with Klapa Kartolina and is grateful to Fr. Ljubo Lebo and everyone who organised and made this successful event possible. We look forward to returning and performing in Windsor once again.
