The CCCS held a Christmas Soiree celebrating the Canadian debut of the HSPD “Podgorac” Ensemble from Zagreb, Croatia on December 5, 2017 at the beautiful Harbour Banquet Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

The cocktail hour commenced with entertainment featuring a tambura ensemble which brought many of the 200 delighted guests to their feet in traditional Croatian dance and spontaneous song. The table centrepieces of bread and Croatian heart licitars along with the exquisite colourful costumes of the “Podgorac” choir set the ambiance for the evening.

Performances by each choir captivated the audience and culminated with a combined choral presentation by both choirs.

Artistic Director Edward J. Mavrinac welcomed and thanked the guests for supporting this Canadian-Croatian cultural exchange and highlighted the importance of such collaborations.

On behalf of CCCS, President Mira Lorkovich Omura extended a heartfelt thank you to all guests and patrons, especially to CCCS’ generous donors and sponsors, and introduced HSPD “Podgorac” President Zdravko Radić who expressed his joy of being invited to Canada.

This festive evening to remember included wonderful tambura music, a traditional Christmas dinner, door prizes, a live auction and the amazing choral sound of the combined choirs of CCCS and HSPD “Podgorac”. The evening concluded with dancing and song enjoyed by all!
