Over 400 tickets were sold for this year’s third annual Christmas concert – Svim Na Zemlji Mir Veselje – To All on Earth – Peace & Joy – held at Humber Valley United Church in Etobicoke.

Enthusiastic concert goers gathered from across the GTA to enjoy the sold-out performance. Special guests included Marica Matkovic, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Canada, Andrea Javor, Consul General of the Republic of Croatia and several of her consular colleagues and Kinga Surma, MPP for Etobicoke Centre.

Led by Artistic Director Ed Mavrinac, the Christmas story unfolded through readings, music and song, both in English and Croatian. Young talented musicians accompanying the choir included an organist, trumpeters, a flautist and string quartet and the always-popular tambura ensemble. Past Merit Award recipients Julijana Hajdinjak and her sister Danijela performed a stirring duet. It didn’t take long for the audience to get into the holiday spirit and enthusiastically clap and sing along to several familiar favourites

The concert ended on a stirring and peaceful note as both choirs sang Silent Night in English and Croatian.

The CCCS looks forward to performing for audiences again at its spring concerts on April 28, 2019 in Etobicoke and on May 12, 2019 in Oakville
